Brite Haven is a place to discuss mental health treatment for those in treatment and those who have decided against treatment. We explain the process of mental health treatment and how to get started. But we don't sugar coat it. We explain that meds have a devastating effect on your brain, but can be helpful if you are in the midst of depression or a psychotic break. While meds may be the short term answer, meds may not always suit you for the long term. Treatment may be the way to go for a time being and then you should be able to decide if treatment is right for you permanently, or not. For some, meds may just be the right answer.
Here, we advocate for mental health treatment while letting people decide what is right for them. You will learn what treatment entails, how doctors diagnose, and what talk therapies are available. We do say that talk therapy should be your first priority and meds should be your last. But again, meds can be helpful and should be explored if the situation calls for it. Only you and your doctor can decide.

Brite Haven discusses the many mental health treatment methods available. You can also discuss the various coping strategies with others who are also in mental health treatment and with those who are no longer in treatment but have reached recovery. Here, you will find support, encouragement, understanding, and hope. And hopefully after educating yourself, you can make an educated decision about your own mental health treatment.
